I've been so excited about making Slimline cards ever since Stampin' Up! added Slimline Envelopes to the mix in the 2022 January - June Mini Catalog! The envelopes are just so pretty with their curvy flap, printed inside, and middle seam - it's like a little package in itself.
I have found the easiest way to make a Slimline card is to start with 8.5 x 11 card stock placed vertical or in portrait mode in your trimmer, then trim at 7 inches. Without even opening the guide arm on your trimmer, slide the card stock up to the 3.5 inch mark and score. Done! You don't even have to turn it horizontal to trim or score because it's already perfect at 8.5 inches. The 8.5 inches becomes the length of your card and you fold at the 3.5 inch scoreline. Here are two of my favorites.

I simply layered these card bases with Just Jade card stock and added the beautiful free with $50 purchase Daffodil Afternoon Designer Series Paper. I used dies I had in stock to create long sentiment pieces and added a couple of punched flowers for interest. My favorite Slimline card is the one I made using the Sentimental Swirls stamp set. The flowers from that stamp set can be punched out using the Flowers And Leaves punch from the Annual Catalog. Love, love, love this set for the beautiful feminine font used on the sentiments as well as the sentiments themselves, not to mention the little bird, the leaves and the extra swirls. I have used the extra swirls to decorate the inside of cards and the outside of envelopes when I didn't have the exact flower or whatever to match the DSP. I'm anal like that - matchy, matchy.
Anyway, Slimline cards pack a big punch for not a whole lot of extra money. The envelopes end up costing about .67 each which is a great value based on the beauty of the envelope. I make cards for all of our team celebrations at work, and the Slimline is great because it gives them lots of room to sign. This card and envelope went to a co-worker who is leaving our company and heading to the coast to start a new life with her family there. We had a going away party and everyone loved the card I provided to sign.

There are only a few days left to earn free products during Sale-a-bration (ends February 28), so consider stocking up on card stock or other basic necessities and purchasing the Sentimental Swirls stamp set and Slimline Envelopes so you can make someone's day with an on-trend Slimline card!
Happy Crafting!
