I love a good fun fold card, and I also love to use my beautiful Designer Series Paper (aka DSP). I used to be scared to death to use my DSP and was somewhat of a hoarder. Now though, I realize there is always going to be more beautiful paper as new catalogs come out, AND I can always order more of that same beautiful paper if I run out! If you think about it, Stampin' Up!'s beautiful paper is not that expensive given the number of cards you can make with just one pack. That's why when I see a card that uses a lot of DSP, I embrace the design and try it. That's what let me to make this card.

This is a fan fold using mostly Designer Series Paper. You can see how much is used in the next photo when it is fanned out. I learned this design from Connie Stewart, and added a couple of pieces to make it my own.

The first card I made using this design, I added a piece of Thick Basic White to the very back of the DSP cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" because I just didn't feel like it felt sturdy enough using just the DSP as Connie did. Below is the first card I made, but you can't see the piece I added to the back.

You start with a piece of DSP that measures 5 1/2" x 12" then score it and accordion fold it so it ends up measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" - just like all of our A2 cards. So for the next card I made like this and the one that is featured first on this post, I cut the DSP to 5 1/4" x 12". Then I cut a piece of Very Vanilla Thick card stock to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and layered a piece of Early Expresso cut to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" on top of it, then I added the DSP. That was the perfect solution for me.
I used the Garden Birdhouses for my stamped designs and outside sentiment and borrowed one of my favorite sentiments from Tranquil Thoughts for the inside: "Wishing You A Beautiful Day" - just the right size, a beautiful font, and the main reason I bought the Tranquil Thoughts stamp set.
Last week I went a little crazy with the Plentiful Plants Suite, so be sure to check out my Gallery for some ideas on how to use that beautiful suite. You can access my "Gallery" from my "Home Page" top menu. I also have some great Fall and Holiday card kits for purchase and you can find those on my home page under "Online Classes."
Thanks for checking out my blog today, and I hope you will subscribe to my blog and newsletter. I still have lots of Designer Series Paper from the Sale-abration catalog that I want to give away, so please leave a comment on this post so I can add your name to the drawing I do every time I post a blog.
Take care,
Kim Webb
