Embossing Is Da'Boss

Last night I sat down at my crafting table to try to come up with some card kits that I could use for my very first "On-line BINGO and Card Kits Event". Well, I only have a handful of customers, and they are all basically new at card making, so they have minimal supplies. This means I need to provide die cut shapes that don't really require stamping images because more likely than not, they aren't going to have the stamp set that goes with the die cuts. So, I pulled out some punches, looked over my dies, checked DSP for fussy cutting possibilities, and was hitting a creative block. Then it dawned on me! How about our beautiful embossing folders?! That's something I can provide that they can build on and hopefully make them say, "Wow! I want to play BINGO and make cards with you!" So here are a couple of cards I came up with for my kits.

The Painted Texture Embossing Folder was just the perfect background to showcase the Fine Art Floral DSP. I love the way it matched up with the Merry Merlot card stock as the background for the 3 panel DSP pieces.
At first, I just couldn't get the right combination of embossing folder, DSP and sentiment. My craft room looked like a tornado had touched down, and I was getting very frustrated. I had the vision, but it just wasn't coming to fruition like I had hoped. So, I walked away, took a chill pill and came back a few minutes later and by 1:00 am, (on a work night) I had several cards figured out.
I do things back-asswards sometimes and the next card was one of those times. I knew I wanted to use Pool Party card stock and the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder together, but that's all I knew. I went ahead and got that part of the card ready, and I tried putting several pieces of DSP in several different shapes (circle, oval, and scalloped rectangle just to name a few) and nothing was working! Then, I spied it...another lovely piece of the Fine Art Floral DSP. I used the piece that had long skinny blooms with just a touch of Pool Party in it and I layered the skinny piece with Blushing Bride card stock. Going for a tone on tone for the sentiment, I used Pool Party ink and Pool Party card stock.

This next card uses an expired embossing folder called Country Florals, but it has always been one of my favorites, so I'm using it for one of the kits too. I can do that, right? Yes, they are my kits!

Now, the ideas are flooding in for my card kits, and I'm going to have to narrow down my options instead of not being able to come up with something fabulous! Isn't it strange how that works sometimes?
I sure hope I get enough people to signup for my event, because I bought lots of Stampin' Up! prizes to give away before I even ordered the BINGO Game! Another example of how I sometimes do things backwards. Our gracious team leader met with a couple of us to discuss how to go about holding an Online BINGO, and I was present, but I don't know what happened! I just got excited and went awry!
Stay tuned for a date, cost, and more details about the "Online Bingo and Card Kit Event." One thing I know for sure about it, I HAVE GREAT PRIZES, so hope to see you there!!!
Take care,
Kim
Your mental block sounds like some of my late nights dealing with card ideas.
All of your cards are beautiful, what color is the card stock you used with the Fine Art Floral DSP and the Merry Merlot card stock? This is a beautiful combination.
Oh, you are so funny! Love the Judge Judy addition! I know your Bingo & Card Event will be a smashing success!
These cards are beautiful. I'm sure you'll have plenty of people who want to play Bingo to get these cards and your prizes. I would but you'd have to mail them and with the mail so slow these days, the party would probably be over before my package arrived. Sometimes the process takes a lot longer than expected. Enjoy your day!
Hi Kim,
Your cards are beautiful! We all have those moments when the creative block hits! But, they turned out great. Nancy
Hi Kim,
