Aunt Ruth's Sequin Ornaments

Today's card was inspired by a memory I had recently of my Aunt Ruth. She was a feisty little thing, and I grew up in awe of her crafting shenanigans. She gifted my mom some Christmas tree ornaments one year that she made by loading beads and sequins onto short, straight pins then pushing the loaded pin into a silk covered ball. Mom was thrilled, and I was mesmerized. The memory came back to me as I reached for the Ornamental Envelopes stamp and die bundle.

Folks used to joke about how s l o w Aunt Ruth was in her crafting, but I totally understand now. I poured out the entire pack of sequins from the Woven Threads Sequin Assortment and carefully picked each one that I wanted to adorn my ornaments. It didn’t take long to completely cover the chosen ornaments.

I flipped through the Feels Like Frost DSP and landed on this piece with Rococo Rose, Seaside Spray and Highland Heather. I stamped the first piece of DSP with Highland Heather ink and cropped the ornaments out with the dies. I adhered them with Stampin' Dimensionals. I added a sentiment stamped in Smokey Slate and popped it up as well. I liked it so much, I decided to try another version stamped in Seaside Spray.

I loved the outcome of both cards and cherish the memory of my Aunt Ruth. The possibilities are endless for this stamp set! I have yet to make a traditional colored one, but I certainly intend to before Christmas. This paper is also very lovely. I've used it with several different stamp sets for Christmas themed cards this year like the one below.

Which card is your favorite from these three? I’d love to hear from you, and it may help me decide what I offer in my Christmas card class. Hop over to my website and subscribe to my newsletter and blog at www.justpaperllc.com. Maybe you will find something to inspire you.

Happy Crafting Everyone!

Hi Kim, These cards are just gorgeous! I love all of them, even the dove! Your story about your Aunt Ruth brought back memories to me too. Lovely story. My Mom made these ornaments from kits she had purchased. Then I started making them when my children were small. I still have them. You gave me some ideas. Thank you for sharing!

All of these cards are beautiful. It's very tough to choose just one, but if I have to I'd pick the Highland Heather. I think it shows off the sequin ornaments a little bit better. Love the story of your Aunt Ruth. She must have had lots of patience to make those beaded ornaments. I can understand why you were mesmerized as a child seeing them. I love the dove card, too. Enjoy your day!

Good morning Kim! I love your designs and I really can't decide which of the first 2 cards I love more. These are definitely wow cards. The story of your aunt Ruth was so sweet.
