Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper is great for all occasions, bar none! Boss's Day slipped up on me this year and I was without a gift for my three senior vice presidents. Thank gosh it landed on a Saturday this year, so not being prepared with gifts and cards on Friday was semi-acceptable. Before card making, I was an avid shopper hitting department stores, outlets, bargain bins, Goodwill, etc. almost daily. I just loved to shop and still do, but now my time is split between my real job, shopping, and trying to run a small paper crafting business, all the while keeping my husband entertained too! So, there's no wonder I came up empty handed on Friday before Boss's day. So I thought, "What can I get them that would just show I appreciate them without going overboard on some expensive gift that they probably wouldn't like or need?" I knew straight away what it would be -- an old "go-to" of mine that I've used time and time again for all sorts of different occasions. Homemade Roasted Candied Pecans that are to die for but so easy to make. So on Saturday, I hit TJ Maxx, my favorite store of all stores, looking for a pretty container to put the pecans in. TJ Maxx did not disappoint!
TJ Maxx had these awesome jars with flat spots on the glass that lended a perfect opportunity to dress it up a little using our beautiful DSP. I couldn't believe it, and they were only $2.50 each! I was thrilled and couldn't wait to get home and get to it! I used our oval and square dies to cut the shapes out that matched the flat glass shapes perfectly. I used glue dots to adhere the paper to the glass for easy removal (I secretly wish they were big recyclers and would bring the jars back to me when empty lol). I made 3x3 note cards using the matching DSP. Did I mention the DSP was free from Sale-a-bration? The Punch Party stamp set had the perfect greeting for how I was feeling about these gifts: Bravo on the outside and A Heartfelt Thanks for Everything on the inside. Short and sweet! I remember working really hard to earn the "Punch Party" stamp set, but I can't remember what it revolved around now. I'm just glad I had it in my arsenal! I topped it off with our beautiful ribbon. Never mind that it took me 40 solid minutes to get the Polished Pink and black and white plaid bow to look like I wanted it to--it was all worth it!
I've used our Designer Series paper to enhance many of my gifts for different occasions. Below are some I managed to get a picture of before giving.
I decorated our tins with Valentine's DSP and stuffed them with candy for my office friends. For the middle gift, I just used one of our clear medium envelopes that I normally use to protect my cards with upon completion. Just add some card stock layered with DSP for the base inside the envelope, and more card stock and DSP for the topper. The "sending love" gift was for a co-worker who lost her mom to cancer. In the South where I'm from, everyone brings brings Kentucky Fried Chicken or casseroles and cakes to your house when someone passes away. I remember when my dad passed several years ago, I certainly didn't feel like eating KFC or a meal of any kind, but I could've definitely munched on some pecans.
Next time you need a quick gift, think of something you can give and make it special by using our beautiful DSP and ribbon. I hope you've enjoyed this post and if you leave a comment, I'll email you my recipe of Candied Pecans, but don't forget to leave your email address so I can make it happen.
Take care,
Kim Webb
